Nintendo Reportedly Nears Completion of Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 could be closer than we think. Jenna Coleman, who voices Melia Antiqua in the original Xenoblade Chronicles and the Definitive Edition's Future Connected epilogue, dropped a comment during a video call about believing "they" (Nintendo and Monolith Soft) were working on a new Xenoblade Chronicles (thanks, Video Game Chronicles).

Fanbyte news editor Imran Khan said the outlet's sources confirmed to him that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is, indeed, in development. What's more, Khan said Monolith has almost finished the new Xenoblade, though it's release date "may be held back for any number of reasons."

Nintendo Reportedly Nears Completion of Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Khan said the plan was to reveal Xenoblade Chronicles 3 earlier in the year, but the team ran into the dual problem of COVID-19 and general development issues.

Monolith's next game is potentially it's most ambitious, with the team trying to include more character models on screen at a given time than ever before.

Fanbyte's sources say Xenoblade 3 takes place hundreds of years after Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with a mixed cast comprised of new characters and some non-humans who remain alive, including Melia and, by that same logic, some Blades from the series' second entry.

Nintendo could announce Xenoblade 3 this year, Khan said, though that, too, is still up in the air.
