Doom Eternal The Ancient Gods: Part One To Be A Standalone Game

Doom Eternal's first DLC was revealed this past week at Gamescom 2020.

With a release date of later this year, fans are highly anticipating jumping back into the Doom world.

Now, we know a few more details regarding the DLC; including how it will be a standalone game from Doom Eternal!

Marty Stratton who is the executive producer for Doom Eternal noted the following when talking to PCGamesN:

"When we look at how many people have played through the game we have a large percentage - higher than 2016 - that have completed it, so you're always looking at that and seeing how far players make it through your game,"

"It's important as we want the DLC to reach as many people as possible. In fact, you don't even need to own Doom Eternal to buy the DLC and play it."

It is an interesting decision, to say the least; we have not seen many games release DLC as a separate entity.

The Ancient Gods is part one of multiple DLC's that Bethsda plans to release for Doom Eternal.

Publisher Bethesda also confirmed that Doom Eternal will make the jump to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in the coming months with a free upgrade to the next-gen versions for existing owners.
