Though the game may have stumbled at launch, CD Projekt Red has brought Cyberpunk 2077 back from the dead, and many fans have been enjoying Night City the way it should have been at launch.

It will be a while before CDPR gives an update on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, but there is a new way to get into the world while fans wait for Project Orion to keep gestating.
Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game
As officially revealed by CDPR, a Cyberpunk 2077 board game is in the works (in partnership with Go On Board), and it promises to deliver a whole new gaming experience that runs on the most powerful graphics card—a player’s imagination.
Here’s the official description of the game:
“This story-driven tactical board game will take you on an epic adventure, straight to the major leagues! You can take on the role of V, Judy, Panam or Jackie and experience an alternative story told in 13 thrilling missions, solo or with up to 4 players. You’ll fight corpos, hack intel, control heavy machinery, explore Night City’s dark alleys and even face Adam Smasher!”
For now, the game has just announced its crowdfunding campaign, and they promise to offer an exclusive gift for the first day in the form of a mini V with mantis blades. By supporting the campaign, fans would be helping in ‘expanding the game via stretch goals’—the first being a relic chip containing the engram (a.k.a. digital consciousness) of one Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves).
The game teases more incoming, but as of now, that’s all the information they choose to reveal when it comes to the game.
Game Features
Though players have a few set paths that they can move through in the video game, the board game promises to present a ‘what if?’ scenario to them, giving them a choice of missions and locations that they will have to navigate and telling a completely original story on the table.
Just like in the video game, players can modify their characters with all kinds of special equipment—all depending on the mission at hand. The game even has these special ‘motherboards’ and ‘installments’ that slot together to help build a player’s character.
Not to mention, the game also comes with these fantastic miniatures. They may be gray in the trailer, but any fan of Warhammer knows that painting the figurines for a game is kind of fun as well. Heck, some people even get full-on board games just to be able to paint the minis.
Project Orion
With Project Orion still in the ‘planning’ phase, it could be a while before fans get an update on the Cyberpunk sequel. If anything, CDPR is probably more concerned about pumping out the next Witcher game first. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait until the next-gen console to be able to get their hands on a new Cyberpunk title.
Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game is still crowdfunding, but hopefully, fans will see a release sometime next year.
