Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch by the end of this week, but a lot of gamers who had opted for a pre-order version were able to access the game days earlier, and their reviews have all been coming out online.
It's too bad for anyone who was invested in Outlaws for the past few days, though—specifically, players on PlayStation 5— because it looks like they’ll have to start back to square one. Reports have come out that the latest patch will require them to start a new game because it would mess with the save file of the previous version of the game.
Multiple players have already been complaining about the pain of starting a new game, but Ubisoft has offered a small trinket to soften the blow.
Ubisoft Offers Gift for Players That Lost Their Progress
According to @GameOverGreggy, Ubisoft has sent a follow-up email to the original one asking for players to start a new game.
In the email, it’s said that the developers will be offering an ‘in-game Trailblazer trinket’ as well as 100 Ubisoft Connect Units, which could be used for in-game rewards.
Some don’t think a simple cosmetic change makes up for hours of investment in the game. Still, at least the developers know that losing the players’ progress is definitely ‘not the best experience.’
PS5 Outlaws Players Asked to Start a New Game
Insider Gaming reported that a new patch has been dropped for Star Wars Outlaws, which causes issues with existing save files of the previous version of the game. Ubisoft has been sending e-mails to owners of the Gold and Ultimate Edition of Outlaws and telling them that the best way to experience their game is with the “latest version,”—which is just a nice way of saying that they won’t be able to access their original game after they update with the latest patch.
Continuing to play without updating the game would result in “issues and progression blockers.”

With Outlaws set to be the next big Star Wars game, it was expected that multiple reviewers online would try to get their hands on the game as early as possible, as fans would want to know immediately if they should be cashing out the money to buy this AAA game.
The moment early access became available, multiple posts appeared online from people already giving their reviews on the game and sharing their thoughts on gameplay, story, and visuals.
Admittedly, some reviews have been pretty harsh about Outlaws, saying that the stealth missions and gunplay are kind of bland. However, others have praised the game and said it’s the next must-have experience for any big Star Wars fan.
Out of all the reviews, it’s safe to assume that all the players think that the game looks absolutely breathtaking. Outlaws offers a massive world that will provide hours of content and missions for players. Some have even admitted that it would be too difficult for them to cover the entire game between early access and the actual wide release.

With the last platformer games set in Star Wars heavily focusing on Jedi Cal Kestis, Outlaws offers an adventure for the alternative Star Wars fans who aren’t so keen on the Jedi/Sith clash but love the rogues with their blasters and starships.
Many fans have gone out to defend Kay Vess for being a great protagonist, but there has also been a lot of love for her animal companion, Nix. Fans should expect more things to pop out to fans once the game launches for everyone, but it looks like Outlaws is the next must-try Star Wars game.
Star Wars Outlaws will launch on Aug. 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
