The Call of Duty franchise is no stranger to reusing content from older titles in more recent releases. There are numerous parts of the Warzone 2 maps based on multiplayer maps from other games along with specific weapons that have appeared in nearly every single title since 2007.
With the start of Season Three moving into view, the next seasonal update is bound to include the arrival of new weaponry into the ever-expanding arsenal. Instead of introducing new guns, there’s always a chance some familiar rifles make a return.
Ahead of the upcoming update, players are discussing which weapons from Warzone 1 they’d love to see make a return.
The best Warzone 1 guns in Warzone 2?
The debate started after Reddit user Lordtone215 uploaded an image of four guns from the first Warzone that once dominated the meta along with this question: “What previous Warzone guns would you like to see brought back?”
The fan suggests the CR-56 AMAX, the GRAU 5.56, and the FFAR1 assault rifles would make great additions to the assault rifle category alongside the Uzi from 2019’s Modern Warfare.
Other members of the community also suggested some weaponry to expand the current selection. “Kar 98 and it’s not even a debate,” comments one fan that thinks the iconic sniper rifle could spice up the long-range meta.
Although the Kar98K is a popular suggestion, there are many that believe the developers would nerf it to fall in line with the rest of the rifles. “They’d do it so dirty,” says another player. “Make it three headshot down. Massive flinch. Slow ADS and movement speed.”
Back in Verdansk and Caldera, the Kar98K had the ability to take down an opponent with a single bullet. Unfortunately, the current Warzone 2 weapon balance means there’s little chance of scoring one-shot kills. However, there’s always a chance they change their minds. Will classic Warzone 1 guns ever return to Warzone 2? We’ll have to wait and see.
