What is the best Genshin Impact Hu Tao build? The 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Hu Tao, pretends to be a quirky and cheerful girl when in reality she’s the "Versemonger of the Darkest Alleys", able to communicate with ghosts. While she enjoys pranking people, her abilities on the battlefield are no joke, and she’s one of the best Pyro characters in the game.

Staff of Homa
Primordial Jade-Winged Spear
Crimson Witch of Flames (4 Pieces)
Gladiator's Finale (2 Pieces) & Crimson Witch of Flames (2 Pieces)

Hu Tao works excellently as Main Pyro DPS, similarly to Diluc. Not only does she display great offensive Pyro abilities but also her Elemental Burst regenerates her HP.

As she also receives an attack boost from her max HP in her Paramita Papilio state, and HP regen from her burst, she can take quite a bit of damage and still bounce back.

Pyro DPS Build

The Staff of Homa and Primordial Jade Winged-Spear, while the best candidates for this build with their bonus on Critical Damage, can be a bit tricky to obtain. What you want to do in that case is to use either Deathmatch or Blackcliff Pole, which work well as replacements for that weapon.

The Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set is by far the best for this build but since getting your hands on it can be tricky, you can replace it temporarily with the Noblesse Oblige or Berserker sets.

Hu Tao is a Pyro Main DPS character that plays extremely well either alone or with others but shines especially well if you can trigger as many reactions as possible. For this, companions that can do that such as Xingqiu or Bennett are recommended, and also whoever can give her some extra juice, like Zhongli.

Attack
Effect
Normal Attack
Performs up to 6 consecutive spear strikes.
Charged Attack
Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to lunge forward, dealing damage to enemies along the way.
Plunging Attack
Descends from mid-air to strike the ground, damaging enemies along the path and dealing AoE damage upon landing.
Elemental Skill - Guide to Afterlife
Hu Tao consumes a portion of her HP to knock the surrounding enemies back and enter the Paramita Papilio state. Paramita Papilio -Increases Hu Tao's Attack based on her Max HP at the time of entering this state. Attack Bonus gained this way cannot exceed 400% of Hu Tao's Base Attack. -Converts attack damage to Pyro damage, which cannot be overridden by any other elemental infusion. -Charged attacks apply the Blood Blossom effect to the enemies hit. -Increases Hu Tao's resistance to interruption. Blood Blossom Enemies affected by Blood Blossom will take Pyro damage every 4 seconds. This damage is considered Elemental Skill damage. Each enemy can be affected by only one Blood Blossom effect at a time, and its duration may only be refreshed by Hu Tao herself. Paramita Papilio ends when its duration is over, or Hu Tao has left the battlefield or fallen.
Elemental Burst - Spirit Soother
Commands a blazing spirit to attack, dealing Pyro damage in a large AoE. Upon striking the enemy, regenerates a percentage of Hu Tao's Max HP. This effect can be triggered up to 5 times, based on the number of enemies hit. If Hu Tao's HP is below or equal to 50% when the enemy is hit, both the damage and HP Regeneration are increased.
Talent#1 - Flutter By
When a Paramita Papilio state activated by Guide to Afterlife ends, all allies in the party (excluding Hu Tao herself) will have their Critical Rate increased by 12% for 8 seconds.
Talent#2 - Sanguine Rouge
When Hu Tao's HP is equal to or less than 50%, her Pyro damage Bonus is increased by 33%.
Talent#3 - The More the Merrier
When Hu Tao cooks a dish perfectly, she has a 18% chance to receive an additional "Suspicious" dish of the same type.

Hu Tao's Skills involve a delicate dance around draining your own HP with the Elemental Skill and regenerating it by using the Elemental Burst. You need to learn how to time the using of those two skills, and once mastered, Hu Tao is easily one of the best DPS units in the game.
