How to get Old Rusty Key in Dark and Darker
The Old Rusty Key is a consumable utility item in Dark and Darker. In order to obtain this item, you have to kill the giant worm mini-boss. While the worm boss is common to encounter, the key itself is quite rare, similar to the Golden Key counterpart found by defeating Skeleton Champions that spawn throughout the game.
For the Old Rusty Key, you must first find the Giant Worm in the Ruins in the Central Area. There you'll find a statue with two arms, and you will have to activate a lever found on the statue. Upon pulling the lever, a trapdoor will open wherein the worm will be found.
In terms of battling the Giant Worm, you don't have to worry much because the creature is fairly easy to kill. You will either get loot items or the Old Rusty Key upon slaying it. It takes many attempts to slay the Giant Worm and have the key spawn due to the item's rarity, but it does happen.
How to use Old Rusty Key in Dark and Darker
Once you have the key, you can then head to the bridge and go down to the pit below it. On the south side of the pit, you'll then find two breakable walls that you need to break to get to a room. You'll then find a door at the back of the room which is guarded by three mummies. After defeating them, you can then head into the room.
Inside the small room, you'll find some chests and a gold pile. Some players may also find a legendary weapon within the room. With that, you now know what the Old Rusty Key is for, which is to unlock this treasure room.
