If there's one thing that has heavily been requested by players, it's a 2v8 game mode for Dead by Daylight. And now, as confirmed via Behaviour Interactive's Anniversary Stream, the game mode is officially on its way.

For some, the chance to play with double the Survivors sounds like an utter nightmare. But with this game mode, you won't exactly be alone to suffer: you'll have another Killer right alongside you.

The same can be said for those who play Survivor. Before, you had to worry about 5 gens being done with 3 people. Now, with 7 other people in-game, what could go wrong? Or right?

Thankfully, we've got the guide to cover everything we know about the Dead by Daylight 2v8 game mode.

Dead by Daylight 2v8 Explained

Dead by Daylight fans have always wanted a 2v8 game mode, and now it's here, the question remains: what makes it stand out from the original game mode?

First off, there are now double the amount of Survivors. Again, this would seem like a nightmare for a singular Killer, but now with another murderous buddy? Hunting Survivors down has only got easier.

As for Survivors, their goal remains to fix generators, there will simply just be more generators to fix.

This new game mode will work similarly to the original by allowing players to earn Bloodpoints and iridescent shards when finishing a match.

Currently, the game mode is time-limited and will replace the Scorching BBQ event for Dead by Daylight. It's important to remember that this is the first iteration, and more changes will be added as feedback occurs.

Dead by Daylight 2v8 Map Size

During our press briefing with Behaviour Interactive, the developers confirmed that the map size for the 2v8 game mode would be expanded to accommodate more Survivors and Killers running around. However, they did not confirm what maps would be available when the game mode was launched.

Dead by Daylight 2v8 Killers

As of the time of writing, the variety of Killers that you can play in the 2v8 game mode is limited. As the game mode is new, a limited selection of killers will allow Behaviour Interactive to test what works for this mode and what doesn't.

The Killers that you can select for the 2v8 game mode, so far, are:

  • The Trapper
  • The Hillbilly
  • The Wraith
  • The Nurse
  • The Huntress

What's interesting about this game mode is that, with the combination of two killers, some abilities will mesh well together. For example, if one of the Killers is The Wraith, anyone who teams up with The Wraith while they are cloaked will also have no terror radius. This will work well with a few Killers, but not so well with others.

It is unconfirmed what other abilities will pair together for the 2v8 game mode.

Killers will no longer have to pick up Survivors to put them on hooks, instead interacting with them to put them into cages similar to Pyramid Head's.

Dead by Daylight 2v8 Survivors

Unlike players who take on the role of Killers, Survivors will be happy to know that they can choose whatever Survivors they want when playing 2v8. This is because, unlike Killers, Survivors do not have unique abilities that they rely on.

When you pick a Survivor, however, you'll instead be asked to pick a player class. Whether you're generator fixing or healing, you'll be able to choose a class that fits your playstyle.

Dead by Daylight 2v8 Perks

There's another reason why Killers are limited in choice, and Survivors aren't. To make the 2v8 game mode as fair as possible, both groups of players will be unable to use perks.

This means that there will be no essentials like Sprint Burst, Decisive Strike, or BBQ and Chilli. Instead, players will have to rely on working together and using their capabilities to escape or kill.
