Silent Hill 2 Remake has been long awaited by the fans of the Silent Hill Franchise. The game still follows the story of James Sunderland, who journeys to Silent Hill in search of his deceased wife. The remake has improved drastically compared to its original version and features a modernized third-person perspective that makes it a fresh take on the classic horror game.
Just like the Orignal Game, finding weapons is tricky and requires a lot of effort to find. This involves searching specific areas, completing several puzzles, and fighting a ton of monsters on the way.
Finding weapons such as the handgun can be hard, especially for new players. Luckily, this guide explains everything you need to know in detail.
How to Get The Handgun
There are several steps you need to take to get ahold of the handgun. It might seem cumbersome, but it's definitely worth it.
Look For A Note That Mentions the Handgun
While playing Silent Hill 2, you’ll need to keep an eye out for clues that can help you learn about the location of several items.
At one point, you'll come across a note that mentions neighbors discussing gunfire in Apartment 217. This clue hints at the location of the Handgun, which will be crucial for your survival as you progress through the game.
Solve The Puzzle
You'll need to solve the Jukebox puzzle before you go out and grab the Handgun. This Puzzle is located in the Eastern South Vale. Once you’ve completed it, you’ll obtain the 2F Hallway Key that allows you to get to Room 217.
Get To The Wood Side Apartments
In the Lobby of Wood Side Apartments, you’ll find a Bulletin Board. From here you’ll acquire a map. This allows you to explore the rooms with ease. Remember to grab as much handgun ammo as you can during your search.
Once done, you can make your way upstairs to the second floor. You’ll find the Flashlight and Chute Courtyard key from Apartment 202. Once you’ve obtained these items, head back down to the first floor and use the Chute Courtyard Key to access the Door on the right side of the Reception Desk.
To make your way to Apartment 112, you’ll find an empty bin, place it under the open window, and vault through it. This gives you access to the Hallway where you’ll find a key placed on the ground. Pick up the key and use it to unlock the nearby room.
It's important to note: You’ll Need to defeat the Lying Figures and continue searching the rooms.
Make your way to the other side of the bars and collect the 2F Hallway Key. You can find this Key near Apartment 107. During your search of Room 108, you’ll come across another important item in the game, the Golden Apple Handle.
Once you’re done searching here, make your way up the stairs and enter Apartment 203. Walk through the passage which is essentially a Hole in the Wall to reach Room 217. The Handgun will be hidden inside a Shopping Cart in the Center of the Room.
Finding Handgun Ammo
During your search for the Handgun, you’ll be able to visit all the rooms in Wood Side Apartments. This way, you can also find quite a lot of ammo by searching the different rooms.
