In Black Myth: Wukong, players rely on in-game upgrades to progress through the game. These upgrades need to be unlocked and used effectively for maximum benefit. As you proceed through the game, the enemies become more powerful, and to defeat these enemies, you will need more powerful resources.

Spirits are energy orbs left behind by defeated enemies (Especially by Legendary Bosses). You can use their Spirits to copy their battle form and increase base stats. Before looking for Spirits, you’ll need to learn how to absorb them. Here’s everything you’ll need to know.

Here is everything you need to know about getting Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong:

Absorbing spirits

In Black Myth: Wukong, once you’ve defeated an enemy, they will leave behind blue orbs of energy. These are spirits that can absorbed using a gourd. The first time you come across a Spirit (after your fight against Wandering Wight), a message will appear:

“Cannot absorb Spirits without guidance”

This message appears because you haven’t yet met the right NPC. Once you’ve met with the old man and obtained the Blessed Gourd, you can return to any Shrine and acquire the spirit left behind.

Finding the old man

Once you have defeated Lingxuzi the Giant Wolf, continue your journey to the Bamboo Grove Snake Trail Shrine. You’ll find yourself near the stone stairs. Climb the stairs, and at the top, make a right turn. This is where you’ll meet the Old Wise Man. After interacting with the Old Master, your gourd will be upgraded to the Blessed Gourd.

Absorbing non-pure Spirit

In Chapter 3, you’ll face another monster called Gore-Eye Daoist. He is a Non-pure boss who leaves behind a Non-pure spirit. This is one of the most powerful spirits in the game. You will find Goe-Eye Doaist near Thunderclap Temple, guarding a Meditation spot. Avoid getting hit by his attacks, as they deal large amounts of damage.

Upgrading spirit skills

After you’ve defeated Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang near the Swamps, you can absorb his Spirit using your newly acquired Blessed Gourd. This will also unlock another ability called Spirit Skills. This allows you to equip one Spirit Skill but also gives you the benefit of two.

To Upgrade Spirtit Skills, Visit any shrine and choose the ‘Cultivate Spirits” option using the Self-Advance menu. You can view the entire list of Spirits you have collected. Every Spirit has a total of 6 tiers. You can upgrade to make the most of them. To upgrade Spirits, you’ll need to obtain WIll.

However, you’ll need resources such as the Blood of the Iron Bull and Knot of Voidness to Upgrade the Spirits to their maximum.
