How to absorb spirits
Spirits are left behind by defeated enemies (bosses). When you interact with these spirits, a message appears, notifying you that you can’t absorb Spirits without guidance. You’ll have to track a strange man near Snake Trail Shrine in the Bamboo Grove to find this guidance. You can identify him by the giant gourd on his back.
Interacting with him helps you upgrade your Gourd and enables you to Absorb a Spirit. You can obtain Will from Green Wisps or use the Spirit Attacks from the Spirits you collected.
Note: Purple and Blue Spirits are dropped by enemies once defeated.
If any spirits are left behind, head to your shrine and locate the “Spirit Cultivation” option. This allows you to retrieve any Spirits you could not absorb during your gameplay.
Increasing uses and healing abilities
You can upgrade your Gourd in Chapter 1 of the game once you’ve reached Bamboo Grove. Locate the Marsh of the White Mist Keeper’s Shrine, and you’ll find a tree opposite the Shrine. You’ll see the Luojia Fragrant Vine hanging down from a tree. This is a crucial item to obtain to upgrade your Gourd.
Once you’ve acquired this item, head over to the bridge. Here, you’ll find a lone snake awaiting your arrival. Someone will suddenly start talking to you, begging for help. This is the sound of the Shen Monkey. The moment you’ve defeated the enemy, a cutscene will initiate. Follow the monkey and interact with him. You can now view Upgrade Gourds and Upgrade Drinks and Brew options. You can visit the Shen Monkey to Upgrade your Gourd.
Upgrading the Gourd
Once you have the option to Upgrade Gourds, you must locate and obtain Luojia Fragrant Vine. Utilizing this item will allow you to Upgrade your Gourds. You can only upgrade one Gourd per Luojia Fragrant Vine. To increase healing from the Gourd, you’ll need to select the Upgrade Drinks menu. Use the Awaken Wine Worm to enhance your drinks.
