Guardian of the Galaxy sounds like a big title to live up to but it’s nothing a loud-mouthed anthropomorphic raccoon can’t handle. This Marvel Rivals Rocket Raccoon guide will show you how a genetically altered trash panda can keep up with the strongest beings in the Marvel universe.

The Marvel Rivals characters roster will give you a wide variety of heroes and villains to choose from, each one having their own unique set of abilities. If you want to try these characters out ahead of the Marvel Rivals release date, then feel free to check out our guide on how to get a Marvel Rivals alpha code.

Marvel Rivals Rocket Raccoon Abilities

Rocket Raccoon's has the following abilities in Marvel Rivals:

  • Bombard Mode (Left Click) – Rocket fires energy projectiles from his gun.
  • Repair Mode (Right Click) – Fire bouncing balls that heal allies.
  • C.Y.A. Cosmic Yarn Amplifier (Q) – Launch a Cosmic Yarn Amplifier that boosts the damage of nearby allies.
  • B.R.B. Battle Rebirth Beacon (E) – Rocket deploys a Rebirth Beacon that revives a fallen ally and produces armor packs and jet packs.
  • Jetpack Dash (L SHIFT) – Rocket activates his jetpack to propel himself forward.
  • Wild Crawl (Passive) – Hold down the space bar to walk up walls.
  • Flying Ace (Passive) – Hold down the space bar while airborne to fall slowly.
  • Old Friends (C) – A Team-Up Ability that allows Rocket to ride Groot’s shoulders, reducing damage received while doing so.
  • Ammo Invention (Z) – A Team-Up Ability that has Rocket throw an Ammo Overload Device at a target location. The Punisher gets the Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing buffs when in range of this device.
  • Health – 250
  • Class – Strategist (Healer)

Mostly focused on providing allies with support, these abilities show just how much experience Rocket has when it comes to working with a team. However, I can't say that it isn't a bit odd to see this chaotic mechanic become a healer.

How to Play Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Rivals

When playing as Rocket in Marvel Rivals, you’re going to want to stay in the backlines and let your teammates do most of the actual fighting. Since he fills the Strategist role, most of the time spent playing as Rocket Raccoon will be focused on keeping teammates alive and amplifying their damage output.

As the ones responsible for maintaining the group’s health, Strategists are crucial members of the team. Due to this, you can expect enemies to want to kill you first in battle, cutting off your team from further healing. Thankfully, Rocket has some tools in his kit like the Jetpack Dash and the Wild Crawl that allows him to get out of hairy situations. If you find yourself getting focused on and low on health, get out of there!

When you’re not busy evading enemies, remember to throw out your Cosmic Yarn Amplifier as often as you can during encounters. Boosting the damage of your nearby allies, they'll certainly appreciate it. If you can boost a character like Scarlet Witch, then your team will be able to swipe the floor in no time.

The Battle Rebirth Beacon is great for keeping the numbers advantage on your side in longer fights. Not only that, but it can further buff your allies if they take advantage of its effects. Be sure to place it where your team can access it.

Marvel Rivals Rocket Raccoon Costumes and Skins

Rocket Raccoon currently has two costumes available in Marvel Rivals. More are likely to be released after the game’s official launch, but here’s what the Guardian has so far:

  • Classic Rocket Raccoon
  • 1872: Bounty Hunter

Rocket’s default costume doesn’t deviate too much from his usual comic book style as he sports a blue suit and a pair of spiked red gloves. The Guardian of the Galaxy has mostly brown fur in this costume with the typical raccoon mask pattern on his face. His bright red eyes match the gun he lugs around in battle.

The 1872: Bounty Hunter costume is a Marvel Rivals original. In it, Rocket wears a steampunk-inspired gray suit with gold accessories. He also wears a matching grey cowboy hat that has goggles on the hatband. Rocket has red fur in this costume, making him look a bit like a fox. It's not exactly lore-accurate, so to speak, but it is a fun addition nonetheless.
