How To Get All Incense Types in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Understanding how to find and use each incense type efficiently will allow you to make the most out of your characters and prepare for tougher challenges as the game progresses.

There are five distinct types of incense, each with specific benefits. Here’s how you can locate them and how they can improve your gameplay:

Hero’s Incense

Hero’s Incense offers a quick 100-point boost to the Archetype EXP that makes it highly valuable in the early game.

You can find this incense in multiple locations (often appearing as glowing blue objects), especially in dungeons like Regalith Grand Cathedral and Belega Corridor.

Besides exploring, players can earn it by completing basic story quests, such as More’s Task: Forward and Prologue, which also introduces the Archetype system.

Trading Medicinal Herbs with the Main in Pain NPC in Grand Trad is another good way to stockpile Hero’s Incense. Use these early on to level up your initial Archetypes quickly, unlocking new abilities and ensuring your characters stay competitive.

Strength Incense

This incense ups your Strength by 1, giving fighters a slight edge in battles.

It is found exclusively in the optional dungeon Belega Corridor, which becomes accessible by completing the A Bullish Embargo side quest.

To unlock this quest, you’ll need to improve your Wisdom stat and interact with the Igniter Merchantress. Since this incense boosts melee performance, it's important to find it early if you plan to build a physically oriented party.

Health Incense

Health Incense increases max HP by 5 points, which helps you stick around longer in combat.

So far, it seems that this item is available only during a specific window in the story. It is found in the Regalith Grand Cathedral after the Royal Funeral event but before Hulkenburg joins your party.

Since item availability can sometimes change based on quests or exploration, it’s best to thoroughly search the area during this segment to ensure you collect it.

Missing it means losing out on a helpful health boost for your characters. This small health perk could be what gets you through those early boss encounters.

Magic Incense

Magic Incense increases Magic by 1, which benefits the spellcasters in your party.

It is one of the rarer types of incense, typically found in specific locations like the Reception Chamber of the Regalith Grand Cathedral. It appears just before your encounter with the Spekto enemies in Grand Trad.

During this encounter, you also need to destroy the black Magla crystal. Use this incense strategically to empower your magic-based characters during challenging sections of the game.

Energy Incense

Energy Incense increases Max MP by 2, meaning this extends your magic users' stamina for casting spells.

This incense is especially rare and can only be obtained by defeating the formidable enemy Zorba which can be found in the Regalith Grand Cathedral. Prepare to confront this boss by ensuring your HP and MP are topped off, then engage with strong melee attacks, particularly Strohl's Slicer.

Focus on eliminating the corpses Zorba summons with Fire or Light attacks while managing your party's health. Refrain from casting magic on Zorba, as it has little effect, and shift characters to guard if they are heavily injured.

Repeat this strategy to wear Zorba down. Save this incense for moments when your magic users need sustained spell usage in longer encounters.

What Are Hero’s Fruit and Hero’s Leaf of Light in Metaphor: ReFantazio?

Although Hero’s Fruit and Hero’s Leaf of Light are not classified as “incense,” they share similarities with the traditional incense types due to their role in boosting Archetype EXP.

Hero’s Fruit provides 500 points of Archetype EXP, so it’s a handy mid-tier boost for your party members. This item becomes available as you unlock new Archetypes through interactions with More.

This item is especially useful during the mid-game when you need to experiment with new Archetypes or diversify your characters' roles without spending too much time grinding.

Hero’s Fruit is an effective way to bring secondary Archetypes to competitive levels to ensure you have a flexible party ready for any situation.

On the other hand, Hero’s Leaf of Light gives a hefty experience boost of 1,000 Archetype EXP points. Unlike Hero’s Fruit, this item only becomes accessible once an Archetype reaches Master Rank.

This makes it a sought-after reward for players who are fully invested in developing their characters. Since it significantly accelerates leveling, use it to quickly unlock powerful abilities and prepare for late-game challenges.

Managing these effectively ensures your team reaches peak performance at the right moments.
