Purifying weapons and armor enhances your gear for more difficult encounters. However, this feature is not accessible right from the start.
To unlock the purification feature, you must raise the Wisdom Royal Virtue to the "Informed" rank. You can do this by completing quests, exploring the environment, or spending time at scenic spots like benches on Sunlumeo Street.
Reaching this rank is necessary, as the priests won’t offer purification services until you prove your wisdom at this level. Once you meet this requirement, purification becomes available at St. Fermis Church in Grand Trad, which unlocks after the Prologue.
At the church, you will find an option to purify eligible weapons and armor. Each purification requires a resource known as Blessed Water and some reeve. Blessed Water can be found scattered in various dungeons, hidden inside barrels, or behind obstacles.
Notable locations include the Nord Mines, where you can pick up water near Magla Hollow. Another key site is the Regalith Grand Cathedral, which features multiple hidden spots to search. Although Blessed Water is not infinite, it is moderately available if you explore thoroughly.
Since each purification consumes Blessed Water and incurs a cost, you should prioritize items that will provide the greatest benefit for your play style. Fortunately, the game previews each item’s improvements before purification.
This means you can easily assess whether the investment is worth it. Unlike appraising, which reveals hidden properties, purification offers fixed upgrades that are the same every time. Each piece of equipment can only be purified once, and the required materials will be consumed upon purification.
This not only increases stats but also unlocks new abilities or elemental affinities that improve battle performance. For example, Dragon’s Indignation gains a fire attack when purified.
Another example is the Mining Uniform, which benefits from increased defense after purification. You can use impure gear without purifying it, but the process helps each item perform at its best.
