Minecraft 1.20 Trials and Tales Update

Our guide will help you migrate your account in Minecraft to a Microsoft account to enjoy all of the benefits. Minecraft publisher Mojang has issued a final request for players to switch over their old Legacy and Mojang Minecraft accounts to Microsoft accounts. From two-factor authentication to better parental controls, you get a host of benefits for switching over.

With the migration deadline being set to September 19, 2023, you have limited time to complete the migration. You need to migrate your account only if you are still using a Mojang or Legacy account. If you already migrated to a Microsoft account, you’re all set. If you complete the migration, you also get a free cape, so there’s no reason you should miss out on a free cosmetic.

If you complete the migration, all of your account information, cosmetics, and DLC will carry over so you don't need to worry about losing any data. Why do you need to migrate your Minecraft account?

If you are wondering why should you migrate your account in Minecraft, here is why:

  • Improved parental controls
  • Minecraft will be connected to your Game Pass/Microsoft account
  • Ability to block chats and invites
  • Increased security with 2FA
  • A free cape!

If you do not migrate after the deadline is over, you will no longer be able to sign in to Minecraft.net or the Minecraft Launcher for the migration process. Mojang is doing this to ensure all players use accounts with enhanced security features. After September 19, Minecraft Support will stop assisting players with any kind of migration-related tickets, so you need to complete the process as soon as possible.
