June 14, 2024: Learn all about Starfield's first expansion, Shattered Space, in this guide!

It's easy to lose hours at a time in Bethesda's intergalactic space RPG Starfield. Now, however, the game's first expansion, Starfield Shattered Space, looks to make it bigger and better than ever.

While gamers can keep the first DLC in mind, there aren't enough hours in the day for us to get to exploring Starfield's 1,000+ planets, completing the hundreds of hours of side quests, and partaking in all the space recreation on offer before it comes.

Nonetheless, this guide will help you navigate everything you need to know about Starfield Shattered Space and the very much intact space in Starfield. When is the Starfield Shattered Space release date?

We had previously speculated that the Starfield Shattered Space DLC would make an appearance or release in early 2024. That has quickly proven to not be the case. While previous Bethesda titles like Skyrim and Fallout 4 released DLC fairly early, it seems extra care is being taken when it comes to Starfield.

That said, thanks to the Starfield Shattered Space trailer revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, we do know that the DLC is still planned to release this year. Even so, an exact release date has not yet been confirmed.

How to get Starfield Shattered Space

For those eager beavers who purchased the Starfield Premium Edition with all of the trimmings, you will need to do absolutely nothing to get Shattered Space. The sharp eyes among us know this already, as the DLC is listed in the Premium Edition's contents and mentions that it will be accessible upon release.

For the rest, Shattered Space is by no means out of reach, at least not in the context of the video game. Regardless of whether you purchased a physical copy of Starfield or a digital one, the DLC will be available for purchase upon release.

What is Starfield Shattered Space about?

As revealed via a trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase, more information about the story of the Starfield Shattered Space DLC has been revealed.

"A mysterious power stirs in the city of Dazra on House Va’ruun’s hidden homeworld. Investigate a frightening cosmic threat, explore a new planet, and find unique weapons, spacesuits, and gear in this all-new adventure."

What we're able to tell from the trailer is that we'll be following up on the cult of House Va’ruun -- a troubling space cult that seems to worship a giant serpent. Players will remember that companion Andreja was an ex-member of said cult, but the base game didn't really explore the cult all that closely. Now, however, it seems Shattered Space will be doing just that.

We are unsure when the DLC will take place, though one could safely assume that once you do what you must to finish the game, Shattered Space will add another chapter to the space saga.

In the meantime, take a look through the rest of our Starfield content, which has been carefully crafted just for you. We'll let you know the answers to all of Lou's questions as well as how to holster your weapon!
