But with the Wuthering Waves 5-star selector, new players will be able to grab at least one unit that they have their eyes on.
Playable characters in Wuthering Waves are categorized into a 5-star or 4-star rarity. Though every character in the game is viable, 5-star units are naturally stronger and harder to come by. The ability to do without the randomness and choose a 5-star character would be a great boost to any player’s account.

Wuthering Waves 5-Star Selector Explained
Shortly after logging into Wuthering Waves for the first time, players will be able to choose a 5-star character that is guaranteed to be added to their account. You won’t get the unit right away though, since there are a few steps to go through first.
As soon as you unlock the ability to Convene, or pull for other Wuthering Waves characters Resonators, you’ll see a discounted banner that guarantees a 5-star character from the standard pool within 50 summons. Once you obtain your random 5-star from this banner, it will be replaced with the Beginner’s Choice Convene or the 5-star selector.
On the Beginner’s Choice Convene, you will be prompted to select a 5-star character from the standard pool of units. The character you choose will be guaranteed within 80 summons on this banner.
Here’s a list of Resonators you can choose from for the 5-star selector:
- Calcharo (Electro, Broadblade)
- Encore (Fusion, Rectifier)
- Jianxin (Aero, Gauntlets)
- Lingyang (Glacio, Gauntlets)
- Verina (Spectro, Rectifier)
The characters on this list take on a variety of roles in a party, making the Beginner’s Choice Convene a great opportunity to fill in the gaps in your current lineup.
Which Character to Choose in the Wuthering Waves 5-Star Selector
Deciding which Resonator to get in the Wuthering Waves 5-star selector all boils down to personal preference, but there are some that are better than others, such as Calcharo and Verina.
Calcharo has quickly become a fan favourite since he deals top-tier damage and is basically the Wuthering Waves version of Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7. Verina is arguably the best overall unit in the game since she excels at healing and providing significant buffs to the party. Encore is another viable damage dealer though she currently lacks a support character that synergizes well with her.
But if you’re a fan of Jianxin’s design or prefer Lingyang’s playstyle, there’s nothing stopping you from choosing them as your guaranteed 5-star.
