One of the most important features of any good FPS game is its battlegrounds - and that’s something Ubisoft San Francisco clearly understands. The XDefiant maps aren’t just varied stages inspired by its games, they’re also remarkably well-designed. Ranging from a zoo to a trendy Google-knock-off tech company with interior slides, it’s hard not to have a blast with XDefiant’s maps.

Thanks to the XDefiant roadmap promising even more maps and modes, there’s plenty more on the horizon where that comes from. In fact, even the XDefiant guns list and Factions roster are ever-growing as part of the free-to-play game’s post-launch support - which Ubisoft has gained a surprisingly strong pedigree for.

While there’s a great variety in terms of the environments, layouts, and inspirations from across Ubisoft’s franchises, it’s worth pointing out that the maps you can play on are based on the mode you’re playing. Unfortunately, this split isn’t exactly even.

There are more maps available in Domination, Occupy, and Hot Shot compared to Escort and Zone. While the Escort and Zone maps are larger overall, if you’re mainly sticking to this playlist, you’re not getting nearly as much variety in the map pool. Nevertheless, it’s great that each mode has specially designed maps to ensure the arenas flow well for the relevant modes.

Nudleplex, inspired by Watch Dogs 2, is exactly the type of fake-Google tech company office you'd expect.

If you’re a particular fan of Ubisoft’s games, then there’s a good chance you will recognize at least a handful of these locations, as a popular Ubisoft series inspires almost every map. Arena, Times Square, Dumbo, and Liberty are inspired by locations from The Division, for example. On the other hand, Attica Heights is inspired by Ghost Recon while Echelon HQ is based on Third Echelon’s base in Splinter Cell. So, if you’re looking for a trip through Ubisoft history, then you’ll certainly get that with the XDefiant maps, continuing with post-launch additions.

While it’s not a map for multiplayer, there is also an exceptionally good Practice Range location in XDefiant. Accessed from the menus, this firing range is perfect for tweaking your builds and trying out new attachments since it displays important stats to monitor. I for one have spent countless hours in the Practice Range already.

Seasonal updates also bring three new maps with each season, released at a rate of one per month. This ensures you're never short of new arenas to fight on.

Season 1 Maps

Season 1 of XDefiant adds Clubhouse, Daytona, and Rockefeller, all visually striking and unique maps.

Of course, these new additions are also inspired by Ubisoft's varied franchises. Clubhouse is one of the most iconic maps from Rainbow Six Siege, coinciding with the XDefiant Season 1 Faction, while Daytona is inspired by The Crew, and Rockefeller is another The Division map.

Well, that covers all the XDefiant maps you can wage war on across its multiplayer modes at launch. With new arenas and modes on the way in post-launch updates, we’ll update this guide when more maps are added to the game.
