Whether you’re looking to adapt to a new playstyle or learning to counter certain tactics, it's important to keep a variety of weapons handy to test them out yourself. While most are straightforward to unlock, XDefiant's MDR works a little differently. Luckily, it's easier than you might think to unlock the MDR in XDefiant once you know how.

As you’d expect from any arena shooter, XDefiant has a wide selection of weapons you can choose from to take into battle. Switching up your weapon of choice is a great way to keep things fresh, so it’ll do you good to unlock as many as you can.

How to Get the MDR in XDefiant

The MDR assault rifle can be unlocked for free by reaching level 10 in the XDefiant Preseason Battle Pass, which takes on average around two hours. Leveling up the battle pass is best done by completing matches, with a bonus based on your performance, and beating challenges.

Season 1 of Ubisoft’s arena shooter won’t be out for another few weeks, but you’ll have plenty of content to keep you busy until then, with unlocking the MDR and DedSec being the main goals right now, aside from the standard arsenal of weapons to unlock.

Thankfully, unlocked at just rank 10 of the Preseason Battle Pass, the MDR doesn't take long to unlock. For example, it took me just two hours to unlock the MDR, including the time it took to matchmake. The better you do in a match, the more XP you earn and the quicker you'll level up your pass. Remember, there are also consumable battle pass XP boosts that you can use to speed up the process.

The XDefiant Preseason battle pass has 50 tiers that players can progress through. This is significantly less than the standard seasonal battle pass that is included in the XDefiant roadmap. Why? Well, the Preseason is a good deal shorter than a typical season, so the battle pass length has been adjusted accordingly.

The Legendary Blaze weapon skin for the MDR will also be available on the XDefiant Preseason Battle Pass.

MDR Stats in XDefiant

Here’s a quick rundown of the MDR’s stats in XDefiant:

  • Type – Assault Rifle

  • Fire Mode – 3-Round Burst
  • Damage – 14 to 17
  • Rate of Fire – 765 RPM
  • Magazine Size – 30 rounds
  • Ammunition – 30 + 120 Rounds

The MDR assault rifle is most effective in medium to long-range encounters. It has a relatively slow rate of fire due to its three-round burst, but the MDR does have less recoil to compensate. It's not one of the best XDefiant loadouts in the meta, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean it's not worth unlocking.

That wraps up our guide on how to unlock the MDR in XDefiant. For more on the arena shooter, we can show you how to unlock the DedSec faction. We’ve also got loadout guides for several weapons in the game like the M16A4 and the RPK-74 that you can take a look at.
