All New and Upcoming Characters in Zenless Zone Zero Explained

With so many characters available already and even more sneakily teased by HoYoverse, keeping track of all the Agents at your disposal in Zenless Zone Zero is surprisingly tricky given it’s the lifeblood of the game. To save you the stress of keeping track of all the Zenless Zone Zero upcoming characters and new Agents, we’ve done the heavy lifting for you.

While it’s easy to have your eyes on all the fresh faces, don’t forget about the already large roster of Zenless Zone Zero characters that you can play as, including the free characters that you can get ahold of. Take a look at our ZZZ tier list and you’ll soon realize that the ZZZ team comp potential is a puzzle all of its own.

Zenless Zone Zero Upcoming Characters

The upcoming characters in Zenless Zone Zero are:

New A and S-Rank characters are typically released with each Version update. The current update is ZZZ Version 1.0 which arrived with the full release of the game, while ZZZ Version 1.1 will add new characters, events, and activities to complete later when the ZZZ 1.1 release date arrives.

Zhu Yuan

Zhu Yuan is the second event character in the 1.0 launch ZZZ banners, making her the first new character in the game post-launch.

Specializing in high-damage attacks that blend close-range kicks with ranged ballistic damage, Zhu Yuan has a very fun and fast playstyle. It helps that she also packs a punch. The only issue right now is that Zhu Yuan lacks strong team comps, being the only member of the New Eridu Public Security faction and one of only two Ether characters. Right now at least, you effectively have to pair Zhu Yuan with Nicole, though this was one of my favorite teams during the ZZZ review period.

Qingyi

Qingyi is one of the upcoming characters in the upcoming batch of revealed New Eridu Public Security Agents. Though HoYoverse has officially debuted her Agent Record on social media, it has yet to reveal Qingyi's gameplay features outside of her faction. However, with her small character model and lightweight armor, Qingyi could be an Attack, Support, or Anomaly character.

According to leaks by the well-known leaker 'Firefly,' Qingyi is an S-Rank Electric Stun character. If this is the case, then Qingyi will be competing with the free A-Rank character Anby - and will most likely come out on top.

Jane Doe

Revealed by HoYoverse in her Agent Record, Jane Doe is an undercover New Eridu Public Security agent.

According to leaks, Jane is an S-Rank Physical Anomaly character, which would make her the first of her kind. With how strong the Physical Anomaly - Assault - is, Jane Doe could be a very powerful new addition, not just to PubSec teams but to Physical teams as well.

Seth

Seth Lowell has been officially revealed by HoYoverse, at least partially. From their Agent Record shared by the developer, we get a closer look at this character's design.

Leaks suggests that Seth is an A-Rank Electric Defense character, which would make him the first of this archetype and only the second Defense character after Ben. Though Defense isn't a widely used Speciality in most activities, Seth could change that. Otherwise, he'll be a great addition to Zhu Yuan teams.

Harumasa

If you've played the ZZZ endgame activity Hollow Zero, then you'll have met Asaba Harumasa before. He appears alongside Miyabi, Soukaku, and Yanagi during the introduction to the mode as a friendly NPC. Next to his other Section 6 faction members, it's clear they're on track to become playable characters in the future.

Well, the latest leaks suggest Harumasa, a supposed S-Rank Physical Attack character, is a featured character in the 1.2 banners. Though there's already a variety of Physical Attackers, Harumasa opens new build and team opportunities, especially when it comes to other Section 6 members.

Yanagi

Like Harumasa, Yanagi is also a friendly character during the early parts of the ZZZ story. Though HoYoverse hasn't revealed how they will play when they eventually become playable Agents, details have been dug up in leaks. Well-known leaker 'Ubatcha' claims that Yanagi will be an S-Rank Ether Anomaly character, which will be a great addition. Not only would this make Yanagi the first of this type, but it would also finally give Ether builds more options.

Lighter

Chances are, you've met Lighter in-game but haven't realized. This Sons of Calydon member can be found outside the Box Galaxy shop from time to time. Though he's yet to be revealed as a playable character officially, leaks suggest he will debut in 1.2 as an A-Rank character.

The rest of Lighter's kit is unknown, though this will at least give Sons of Calydon more faction members and open more team comp opportunities.

Hoshimi Miyabi

Hoshimi Miyabi is the only officially revealed upcoming character, having her profile included in a beta test. With that said, HoYoverse has yet to reveal many details about her. All we know about Miyabi right now is that she is a member of the Section 6 faction, finally giving Soukaku some company.

Two Upcoming Sons of Calydon Characters

According to various leaks, Sons of Calydon will be receiving even more new characters during Version 1.3. At least two upcoming Sons of Calydon characters have been uncovered under the codenames Caesar and Burnice. Caesar is reportedly a Physical Defense character while Burnice is expected to be a Fire Anomaly character.

Other Upcoming Characters

Seven characters were also revealed during the Zenless Zone Zero lore teaser, though it's currently unconfirmed whether these are playable characters. Whether they're playable or not, we're sure to meet them soon enough.

Zenless Zone Zero New Characters

The newest Zenless Zone Zero characters are Lucy and Piper, both of which also introduced the first new faction - Sons of Calydon.

Lucy (Luciana de Montefio)

Lucy is an A-Rank Support Agent who calls her cute Guard Boars into the fray to back up your team. Though she’s got an explosive playstyle with her studded bat and deals moderate damage, Lucy’s supportive capabilities are her true strength. Able to increase the team's ATK after using her EX Special Attack, Lucy is a great backup for a strong main DPS character like Soldier 11.

Piper

Piper, the permanently sleepy A-Rank Anomaly unit, is a surprise hit. As an Anomaly character and dealing Physical damage, Piper is great at applying Attack, the Physical Attribute Anomaly. This is arguably the best Attribute Anomaly in ZZZ, so Piper is a worthy addition to Physical or mixed Attribute teams.

Furthermore, Piper also supports allies with a damage boost using her stacks of Power, so long as they match her Attribute or Faction.
