Cyberpunk 2 is slowly being worked on by CD Projekt Red and fans are hoping to hear more about it after the next Witcher game. Interestingly enough, this sequel will have work done by CD Projekt Red’s Boston studio, which will apparently make it more American, at least according to the studio.

During the company’s AnsweRED podcast (via Wccftech), executive producer Dan Hernberg brought up how this sequel will be developed in North America. Hernberg feels that this new game will feel more American now that actual citizens from the country are working on it.

“I think Cyberpunk is obviously a uniquely American story,” Hernberg said. “It’s got a lot of like punk energy, and it was written by an American, so it just seems right to do it in America.”

While making Cyberpunk 2 more American could be interesting, it’s worth noting that the first game was already in love with the good old US of A. The game’s story was a lot like a Hollywood film, most of its actors were American, and a lot of its geography was based on this country. Sure, some fans complained about the manholes not looking right, but the first game litrally has Keanu Reeves in the main narrative.

Making this sequel feel more “American” feels unnecessary, since the first game was clearly set somewhere in America. Fans won’t mind if the game is actually pretty good, but we doubt that turning up the nationality will do that. Still, we’re definitely interested in seeing which celebrity shows up in the sequel, because Americans sure like that.

Sensationalized nationalism or not, fans are just hoping that Cyberpunk 2 launches with very little bugs at launch. The first game was a mess at launch, almost being unplayable on PS4 and Xbox One, hence, all these patches. While it’s a good game now, fans will never forget that really bad launch period.
