Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail is another good expansion for this MMO, giving fans a fun story to go through and even more side quests. However, one of those side quests can actually spoil the main story, so players best be careful when doing these in batches.

Thanks to a warning on the game’s subreddit (via PC Gamer), players should avoid doing the side quest “Once a Riddler, Now a Ruler" until they beat the main story. On paper, it’s a cute little side quest that forces players to explore this new region more, but its ending will literally spoil the game’s main story.

We won’t spoil the story itself, but Final Fantasy XIV players should make sure to avoid it for the time being. It’s not going to go anywhere, so players can go through other side quests and the main story before taking this one on.

Considering how much fans adore this MMORPG’s story, it’s surprising to see this side quest out in the open like this. Most of us thought that Square Enix would make this a post-story side quest, since most games would do that to avoid spoilers. It’s an odd decision, to say the least, but at least players now know how to avoid this quest.

Dawntrail has had a bit of a rough early access launch, with many Final Fantasy XIV players voicing their concerns over these issues. Xbox owners would lose control of their characters when switching locations, while everyone else had to go through animation glitches. Despite that, it seems that most players are still enjoying everything Dawntrail has to offer and that’s what matters in the long run.

There’s a ton of these expansions now, so curious fans may want to check out the base game and its extensive amount of content before picking up Dawntrail. Final Fantasy XIV is readily available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
