Fans have been eagerly anticipating the heavily-rumored Zelda remasters that include Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, both of which have been finished for years. We’re hoping that the upcoming Nintendo Direct this month will finally reveal these games, but the company has proven us wrong before.

Midori, a fairly reliable insider in the world of gaming, has said that a new game in the Legend of Zelda series is currently being worked on. After a fan assumed that this was a remaster of Twilight Princess, Midori said they were shocked that this game hadn’t been released yet.

Both Twilight Princess and Wind Waker were originally remastered for the Nintendo Wii U, with fans assuming a re-release of both would be coming to Switch. Now that we’re officially in the Switch’s twilight years, fans are shocked that these re-releases haven’t happened yet. The company was quick to re-release Wii U games like Hyrule Warriors and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, so these games taking a while has caught many off guard.

Various insiders have said that these older Zelda games have been finished for years now, including people who work for Eurogamer and VGC. It seemed that Nintendo was waiting for a rainy day before releasing these games, but a new system was already confirmed and we still don’t have these games.

Nintendo has been releasing quite a few remakes in the past few months, giving fans Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Mario vs Donkey Kong, and Super Mario RPG. We’re also getting Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD this month, a remaster of the 3DS game, though many would have preferred the first one.

Regardless of the company’s release history, it seems that the Switch will go down in history as an impressive Zelda machine. In addition to these possible remasters, the console is also home to Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, a Skyward Sword remaster, two Hyrule Warriors games, and a Link’s Awakening remake. Add the games from NES, SNES, and N64 via Nintendo Switch Online and the Switch could be the ultimate Zelda system.
