Persona 6 has been rumored for sometime now, with fans hoping for something that will shake up the already addictive status quo. It seems that Atlus is listening, as a leaker claims that this new game will shock fans with two protagonists instead of one.

According to Senhorita Kazzy, who many assume is reliable liar Midori, this new entry in the acclaimed JRPG series will give fans two protagonists to control. The leak claims that one protagonist will represent “tradition” while the other is “modern day,” which probably means a man and woman. Fans have wanted a female protagonist in the series because they haven’t had one since Persona 3 Portable, so this would be very good news.

Having two protagonists in Persona 6 is pretty cool, even if the concept itself isn’t exactly a groundbreaking one. Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows has two protagonists, so this isn’t exactly a foreign concept to most.

Giving fans another protagonist to use would solve many of the criticisms this series has, as it’s been pretty male-centric for the longest time. While Persona 2 and Persona 3 Portable gave fans multiple options, Persona 4 and 5 did not follow that trend at all.

Rumors of Persona 6 have persisted for sometime, with leakers claiming that the game was being developed around the same time as Persona 3 Reload. Details on this new installment are pretty slim, though many fans expect the same arrangement with Microsoft. Basically, you can expect Xbox to announce the game first before Atlus clarifies that it will be coming out on other systems.

Atlus’ track record has been great this year alone, releasing Persona 3 Reload and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, both of which we scored highly. The company will be capping off this year with Metaphor: Retanfazio, which looks amazing, so we can’t wait to see how that game plays.

No release date for Persona 6 has been revealed, but fans can expect it to come out on current-gen systems. Rumors claim that Atlus is planning major Switch 2 support when it comes out, so expect these games on Nintendo’s new system as well.
