Breakdown

  • YouTuber SuperLouis64 created a 7-foot sword that works as a game controller for Elden Ring.
  • He 3D printed the giant sword and used Arduino Nano to translate his swings into the game.
  • Despite the sword’s weight and size, Louis managed to defeat Margit, the Fell Omen, a notoriously difficult early-game boss with the controller.

YouTuber SuperLouis64 took on one of the most unique Elden Ring challenges in recent memory. He crafted his very own Greatsword controller and used it to play Elden Ring.

He first thought about making a sword like the Moonlight Greatsword from the game. But he decided to make something that didn't cost too much. So, he printed a big Greatsword with a 3D printer. The sword was so big that he had to make it into pieces and then put it all together, and in the end, it came out at 6.5ft long.

Louis used a microcontroller called Arduino Nano to make the Greatsword work like a gaming controller. He added buttons and sensors to make it feel like you're really fighting in the game. Swinging the Greatsword in the real world made it swing in the game. It also had a built-in guard function, activated when the sword was held vertically.

He even played Elden Ring and fought and beat Margit the Fell Omen. As seen in his YouTube video, using the Greatsword seems difficult since it's heavy. But Louis defeated Margit with some struggle and heavy lifting, showing everyone that his Greatsword controller worked.

Louis's Greatsword controller is a fun idea and one of the most unique Dark Souls/Elden Ring challenges we've seen. Now we need to see someone kitted out in a full Guts cosplay, taking on Elden Ring or Dark Souls with this unique controller.

If you're a fan of similar challenges or love the creative content Louis has come up with here, his channel is full of other unique and just simply amazing controllers for various games. Check it out if you want to see some of the wackiest modern controllers.
