Mobile games and asking for lots of money go hand-in-hand, but Marvel Snap's latest event has plenty of players concerned over the strategy game's future. As we reach the halfway point of the current Maximum Effort season in Snap, the new limited-time game mode is causing a lot of people disappointment, as well as concerns about the future of Second Dinner's monetization.

For those unaware, the 'Deadpool's Diner' event brings a new game mode to Marvel Snap for just two weeks. New modes are a rarity for the card strategy title, and the latest event will put your best Marvel Snap destroy decks and best Marvel Snap Thanos decks to the test.

Similarly to the standard Marvel Snap matches, players have to earn Bubs instead of Cosmic Cubes. However, unlike the normal mode, you have to pay increasing amounts of Bubs in the hopes of gaining more and unlocking plenty of exciting rewards — including the new Cassandra Nova card.

You spend Bubs to 'buy in' to each variant of the Deadpool's Diner mode, with the amount of Bubs increasing exponentially over the course of the event. However, losing Bubs below the threshold means you'll have to wait hours to play again at your current 'plate', or you can spend Gold to speed up the process. In fact, you can even spend Gold to get early access to some of the later 'plates'.

Of course, this hasn't gone down well in the Marvel Snap community. One look at the official r/MarvelSnap subreddit, you'll see a whole range of complaints about the latest mode. Some are calling the event 'pay-to-play', as whales can afford to spend expensive amounts of Gold to play endlessly, while those who are met with bad luck, RNG, or a good opponent have to wait to play again.

However, the issue is overblown, thanks to Second Dinner's lack of explanation on the new mode. The in-game tutorial isn't helpful at all, and while the blog post does explain more about the Deadpool's Diner event, it should be in the Marvel Snap game instead. As you progress the rewards track, the amount of Bubs you get per hour increase too, and you can also play the earlier plates to earn some Bubs back more quickly.

Sure, it's definitely an issue that Second Dinner is making it easier for whales to get ahead in the reward track. But, it's certainly not as bad as you may think. And, in all honesty, Cassandra Nova isn't really worth the stress.
