Star Wars Hunters may not be the Battlefront game we were expecting, but that hasn't stopped us from getting excited about Zynga's new game. A 4v4 squad arena game, Zynga's first tease of Star Wars Hunters occurred back in 2021. Since then, fans have been speculating just when they'll be able to get their hands on this new game in full, and not just its soft launch back in 2023.
Now that the confirmed date of June 4, 2024, is here, it's never been a better time to explain the variety of game modes in Star Wars Hunters. Then, once you're done, check out which hunters are the best with our tier list.
What Are Star Wars Hunters Game Modes?
The full list of Star Wars Hunters game modes are:
- Squad Brawl
- Dynamic Control (Objective)
- Trophy Chase (Objective)
There will occasionally be Event Game mods. Currently, the following have been launched:

Star Wars Hunters Game Modes - Squad Brawl
Squad Brawl is the first game mode that you're introduced to when you first download and play Star Wars Hunters.
In it, you must choose a Hunter from either the Damage, Support, or Tank class and fight it out to reach the set number of points laid out by the end of the match. The way to earn these points is simple: kill the opposing squad. With each kill, you rack up one point.
The other way to win is to be in the lead of points by the time the match's timer runs out.
These matches are short and snappy, with a set score of 10 (at the time of our playing) and an overall match time of 4 minutes. In many ways, this makes each second and decision count and helps keep up the rhythm of going match to match without any delay.
Star Wars Hunters Game Modes - Objective
Unlike Squad Brawl, which mostly stays the same outside of moving to different locations in the criminal-infested Outer Rim, the Objective game mode has much more variation.
For one thing, maps and locations are shuffled. You'll never play in the same location straight after another, making each match memorable.
Secondly, Objective comes with its own sub-category game modes. These game modes are:
- Dynamic Control
- Trophy Chase
Star Wars Hunters Game Modes - Dynamic Control
Dynamic Control is part of the Objective games mode for Star Wars Hunters. However, you must first reach level 8 to unlock and play it.
In Dynamic Control, the player must stay on the control point to gain points. The longer they stay on the point, the more they get. If they leave the point, earning points stops.
The control point will regularly change to new locations. To make sure they are guaranteed a win, the player must do their best to keep the enemy squad off the control point.
Star Wars Hunters Game Modes - Trophy Chase
Trophy Chase is part of the Objective games mode for Star Wars Hunters. However, you must first reach level 11 to unlock and play it.
With the Trophy Chase game mode, the player must put faith in their ability and nimble-like reflexes, because the only way to win this game mode is to keep droid TR0-F33 in their possession.
The aim of the game, and the way to win, is to hold onto TR0-F33 the longest. The longer you hold the droid, the more points you win.
Those who have the most points by the time the match timer runs out win the game.
Star Wars Hunters Game Modes - Matchup Mixup
This game mode is event-based, so it will not always be in rotation. That said, if you do get to play Star Wars Hunters when it's available, here's everything you need to know about it.
The mode mixes it up with random modes, such as Dynamic Control and Squad Brawl. However, what makes this event game mode different is that the character you'll play will be randomly selected.
Regardless of the randomness, the squad will always be composed of 3 Damage hunters, and one Tank hunter. This is a pretty fun game mode, as it will even pick and choose characters that you may not have unlocked yet.
